Relay For Life kicks into gear Saturday

The annual Relay For Life will be held Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and 6, at Francis Field’s Bushyhead Track. More than 1,700 volunteers, participants and supporters will be on hand for the 12-hour family-friendly event that already has generated $180,000 for the American Cancer Society. FULL STORY

Children at risk for Tourette studied

Neuroscientists at the School of Medicine are studying children who may be at risk for Tourette Syndrome due to the onset of motor and/or vocal tics. Many children develop tics that later disappear, but the researchers want to learn why, for some, those tics represent the beginnings of Tourette Syndrome. FULL STORY

Kemper concerts showcase local talent

The Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum will launch its annual Kemper Presents Concert Series with a performance by the Pernikoff Brothers Friday, March 4. Film scholar delivers Humanities lecture

Influential film theorist Laura Mulvey, professor of film and media studies at Birkbeck College, University of London, will discuss “Modernity and Obsolescence: The Use of Rear Projection in Film” at 4 p.m. Friday, March 4.   • Free vehicle inspection Saturday. The WUSTL Police Department and Parking Services, in partnership with Hartmann’s Towing, will sponsor a free vehicle inspection service to students, faculty and staff Saturday, March 5. The inspections will be held outside of Alumni House off Wallace Drive between noon and 2:30 p.m. Inspection staff will check tire pressure, fluid levels, wipers and headlights and taillights.

  • Softball looking for first win. The No. 7 softball team opened its season with a loss and a tie at the Chick-Fil-A Classic in Memphis, Tenn. The Bears lost 4-2 to host Rhodes College in the first game, and then tied No. 19 Transylvania University, 4-4. The team will look for its first win this weekend in Conway, Ark., at the Warrior Spring Fling with games against MacMurray College, the University of Dallas and Hendrix College.
